Abstract
This study explores the phenomenon of "uncorked economic champions," specifically the longlife scholars of dropped countries, who have demonstrated remarkable resilience and success in the face of significant economic and societal challenges. Focusing on the experiences of two individuals, Charles and Martin, this research seeks to uncover the unique characteristics and strategies that have enabled them to achieve economic prosperity despite the odds. Drawing on a combination of in-depth interviews, archival research, and theoretical analysis, the study examines the ways in which Charles and Martin have leveraged their expertise, networks, and innovative thinking to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and navigate the complex economic landscape of their respective countries. The analysis also considers the broader implications of these findings for policymakers and practitioners seeking to promote economic development and resilience in dropped countries and other challenging contexts. Ultimately, this study contributes to a growing body of literature on the role of human agency and creativity in driving economic success, and provides valuable insights for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners working in the field of international development.
