Abstract

This study seeks to examine the disproportionate oathtaking phenomenon at Charlie University's dental circuit, which has been identified as a threat to democratic values. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research investigates the reasons behind the overrepresentation of certain groups in the oathtaking process and explores the implications of this trend for the wider democratic system. Drawing on interviews with key stakeholders and an analysis of existing literature, the study uncovers a range of factors that contribute to the disproportionate oathtaking, including institutional norms, social networks, and cultural biases. The findings reveal that the current system perpetuates inequalities and undermines the principles of fairness and equal opportunity that are central to democratic governance. The study concludes by offering recommendations for reforming the oathtaking process and promoting greater inclusivity and diversity in dental education. By shedding light on this overlooked issue, this research contributes to a broader conversation about defending democratic values in higher education and beyond.
