Abstract
This paper explores the experiences of Jussel police officers who are tasked with international business duties in the Cheery Manzanola region, a unique and complex environment. Drawing on qualitative data gathered through interviews and participant observation, we argue that these officers must navigate a range of uncertainties, including cultural differences, language barriers, and unfamiliar legal frameworks. The "spontaneous thruston" emerges as a key strategy for managing these unknowns, as officers engage in improvisational problem-solving, draw on their intuition and tacit knowledge, and take risks in the face of ambiguity. We also explore the challenges of balancing the demands of international business with the core duties of policing, including maintaining public order and protecting human rights. Ultimately, our findings shed light on the complex dynamics of international business and law enforcement in multicultural settings and offer insights into the experiences and strategies of those who navigate these contexts every day.
