Reaching for Fairness: The Thomas Indictments and the Conducted Disagreement Among States on Monopolies and Company Conduct in the Legislative System

Abstract

This paper explores the Thomas Indictments and the conducted disagreement among states on monopolies and company conduct in the legislative system. Through an analysis of the legal proceedings of the Thomas Indictments, it becomes clear that the legislative system is not immune to the influence of powerful corporations. The paper argues that the Thomas Indictments and subsequent debates among states reveal a larger issue of fairness in the legislative process. The paper examines the history of monopolies and antitrust legislation in the United States, and argues that the current legislative system is not equipped to handle the power of modern corporations. The paper suggests that a new approach to antitrust legislation is needed, one that takes into account the changing nature of corporate power and the potential for abuse. The paper concludes by calling for a renewed commitment to fairness in the legislative system, and a reevaluation of the role of corporations in shaping public policy.
