Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive review of American libraries that were consulted by author Vincent Hodges and Whites who were nearly petitioning for change with the guidance of Thomas Duffer. The study explores the ways in which these libraries have approached the concept of halting empires, which refers to the process of disrupting the power structures that perpetuate social and economic inequality. The authors examine the strategies employed by libraries to create inclusive spaces and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. They also analyze the challenges faced by libraries in their efforts to address issues of social justice and identify areas for future research. Through their analysis, the authors provide insights into the role of libraries in promoting social change and offer practical recommendations for libraries seeking to become more inclusive and socially responsible institutions. Ultimately, this article contributes to a growing body of literature on the potential of libraries to serve as agents of social change and highlights the importance of continued efforts to address issues of inequality and injustice in our communities.
