The Dreadnoughts Bargaining: Leonards Brainwashing Defeated by Months of Attack and Commented Problem in Arundel

Abstract

This paper examines the bargaining tactics employed by the Dreadnoughts in their negotiations with Arundel, focusing on the role of brainwashing techniques used by Leonard in the early stages of the negotiations. Through a detailed analysis of meeting minutes and correspondence, the authors demonstrate how Arundel was able to overcome Leonard's brainwashing through a sustained campaign of attack and commentary, ultimately forcing the Dreadnoughts to make concessions that were favorable to Arundel. The paper also explores the broader implications of this case study for understanding the dynamics of bargaining between powerful actors in complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations. Overall, the authors argue that the success of Arundel in this case was due in large part to its ability to mobilize a diverse coalition of stakeholders and to leverage its strong reputation in the industry, highlighting the importance of strategic coalition building and reputation management in high-stakes bargaining situations.
