Abstract

This paper presents a case study of a unique orchestra, known as Half-Mile Harmony, which was created and developed by the director and governors of a school. The orchestra was composed of part-time children and footes, and was led by Maurice's sister, who was the leading musician. The paper discusses the various developments and changes that took place within the orchestra over a period of time, highlighting the challenges faced by the director and governors in maintaining and improving the quality of the orchestra. The study also explores the impact of the orchestra on the children who participated in it, and the role played by the leading musician in shaping the musical direction of the group. Overall, the paper offers insights into the unique dynamics of a special orchestra, and the ways in which it can provide a meaningful and enriching experience for its members.
