Contingency Plans and Democratic Tribes: Developing School Equipment Budgets Against Segregated Attacks Lifted by Symington and Santas

Abstract

This paper explores the development of contingency plans for school equipment budgets in the event of segregated attacks. The authors, Symington and Santas, argue that schools must be prepared for potential threats to student safety, particularly in the current political climate characterized by heightened levels of social and political polarization. To prevent the disruption of educational activities and ensure the safety of students and faculty, school administrators must develop contingency plans that effectively allocate limited resources to address potential threats. The authors propose the use of a democratic tribal approach, which emphasizes collaboration and communication among various stakeholders in the school community. By involving teachers, students, and parents in the budgeting process and encouraging open dialogue about potential threats, schools can develop effective contingency plans that are responsive to the unique needs of their communities. The authors provide case studies of successful contingency planning in schools and offer practical recommendations for administrators seeking to implement the democratic tribal approach. Ultimately, this paper highlights the importance of proactive planning and community engagement in ensuring the safety and success of schools in today's uncertain and unpredictable environment.
