Abstract
This journal article explores the utilitarian intentions of baseball training through the journey of a rookie player in Chiuchow, Chicago, and beyond. The study is based on a qualitative approach that involves the collection of data from interviews with baseball coaches, players, and fans, as well as observations of training sessions and games. The findings reveal that the utilitarian intentions of baseball training vary across different cultures, with Chiuchow emphasizing the development of fundamental skills and teamwork, while Chicago focuses on winning and gaining a competitive edge. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of cultural sensitivity in understanding the utilitarian intentions of baseball training and the need for coaches and players to adapt to different cultural contexts. Overall, this paper provides valuable insights into the utilitarian intentions of baseball training and contributes to the growing body of literature on the role of sport in promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
