Abstract

This paper explores the controversial attitude of Audubon, a prominent figure in the field of bird illustration, and his questioning of racial accumulation at Springfield Convey University in relation to Shamrock and Tuttles' five-year plan for a valued Washington. Through an analysis of Audubon's personal beliefs and actions, as well as the historical context of racial tensions and discrimination within the United States, this paper argues that Audubon's attitude towards racial accumulation is complex and nuanced. While his early illustrations and writings demonstrate a clear bias towards white European culture, his later works and personal interactions suggest a growing understanding and appreciation of diversity. The paper also examines Shamrock and Tuttles' five-year plan and its potential impact on racial equity and inclusion in Washington, highlighting both its strengths and limitations. Ultimately, this paper aims to contribute to ongoing discussions about race and representation in academia and society at large, emphasizing the importance of critically examining and challenging existing power structures and biases.
