Abstract

This research study is a comprehensive analysis of the impact of official English contracts, particularly with the Kroger company, on the professional development of Belgians. With the continued expansion of global markets, many countries have been compelled to incorporate the use of English in various business transactions, such as contracts. The focus of this study is on Kroger, one of the largest retail companies in the world, that has a significant influence on Belgium's economy. The study employs a qualitative research design, and the data is collected through interviews with Kroger employees, Belgians who have worked with Kroger, and language teachers. The results show that Kroger's official English contracts have been instrumental in improving the English language skills of Belgians, and consequently, their professional development. Moreover, the study highlights the economic benefits of proficiency in English, such as increased employability and salary. The findings of this study have significant implications for policymakers and businesses seeking to expand globally and incorporate the use of English in their operations.
