Abstract

This paper explores the themes of resentment and remains in the context of American history, specifically through the lens of longhorns, Indians, and elephants. Using a combination of historical research, literary analysis, and personal reflection, the author examines how these three groups have been treated over time and how their stories intersect. The paper argues that resentment towards these groups has been a recurring theme in American culture, stemming from a deep-seated fear of difference and a desire for control. However, the remains of these groups, whether in the form of physical artifacts or cultural traditions, serve as a reminder of the resilience and complexity of their respective communities. Through careful analysis of both historical and contemporary texts, the paper ultimately seeks to challenge the reader to confront their own biases and assumptions about these groups and to consider the ways in which their stories continue to shape American identity.
